The prevention department is one of the key departments of the High Office of Oversight. The Prevention department is established based on article 8 item (5, 6, 8, 9, and 14) of the anti-corruption law. The mandate of this department is strengthening accountability, transparency, reliability and integrity within the government agencies as a crucial component of corruption prevention.

The above-mentioned measures are applicable to all government agencies without exception. The logic behind those measures is to make the government institutes, agencies and offices more effective, efficient, responsive, transparent, accountable, and integrated. This will in turn lead to little opportunity to corrupt practices, an outcome that the High Office of Oversight tends to achieve.  

It is worth mentioning that, based on the national anti-corruption strategy, bringing changes in administrative related issues and amendments in laws and regulations are the responsibility of each government offices and agencies. As needed, the Prevention department will act as a supportive body to government agencies in order to accelerate their efforts towards administrative reform.

To effectively reach its goal—corruption free government—the Prevention department tends to proceed its efforts in a participatory manner i.e. for any reform in government agencies, the department will incorporate all key stakeholders in agenda setting and decision making process.
