Strategy and Planning

The Strategy and Planning Department is a core unit within the HoO.  This unit is an important gathering point for a number of other units.  Information imported into the Strategy and Planning Department comes from the Complaints Unit together with feedback on programmes undertaken by the Prevention, Training and Public Outreach Units of the HoO. In addition the Strategy and Planning Unit is the repository of information, research and reports.

It also houses a small research capacity tasked with digesting all the various sources of information gathered.  This Unit also maintains a close working relationship with the Leadership of the HoO as the Unit will be expected to report and advise the Leadership on a range of strategic and directional issues as well as brief them on developments and thinking that may affect the agenda of the HoO.

Within the HoO one of the most valuable uses for the complaints office is as a source of input to the research office within the Strategy and Planning Unit.  The statistics received from Complaints Office, and analysed by the research office, will be used as a basis for public information campaigns.  This in turn can be used to shine a light on agencies or processes that are problematic, as part of a wider push to demand higher standards of integrity.

In addition to the Leadership of the HoO both the Outreach, Training and Prevention Units of the High Office will be key beneficiaries through analysis from the research office. From external partners there will be many studies, surveys and other reports produced. These need to be digested, processed and synchronised with the work inside the Unit.  Among the kinds of reports to be received would include technical assessments such as Vulnerability to Corruption Assessments or reports on corruption perceptions. There should also be opportunities for collaboration between agencies interested in survey work and the HoO. Finally, the Unit reports to the Leadership on the overall status of support, including identifying potential areas of shortfall or overlap in support being provided or sought.
